Faculty member's release from prison extended

After appealing to extend his release from prison, Columbia faculty member Kian Tajbakhsh will now be able to enjoy a longer break with his family.

According to news reports, Kian Tajbakhsh—who has been imprisoned in Iran since the summer presidential election—will be temporarily released for the Iranian New Year.

Columbia Ph.D. Kian Tajbakhsh detained in Iran

Kian Tajbakhsh, a scholar who earned his Ph.D. in urban planning from Columbia, has been detained in Iran once again, according to news reports and a Web site maintained by the New School, and the U.S. Department of State and University President Lee Bollinger are calling for his release.
