The Columbia University College Republicans' president and director of finance, without telling the rest of their board, had written a letter that would invite the dictator to campus.

The CUCR board issued a statement denying that the group had discussed bringing the Iranian president in a meeting, but, in interviews, some board members said there was the possibility several members had left others in the dark.
